A New Embrace
This morning, we’ll hear from the Pattersons and their work in Slovakia. We’ll also have opportunity to gather around the Table for some deep family fellowship. We’ll welcome in returning members, Mike and Nina Lichtwalt and Don and Miriam Englund. Pastor Jim Renke will lead us in wrapping up the book of Galatians, with a vision of what it looks like to embrace the true gospel of Christ.

We have an opportunity to donate for the month of September to TEDS Clothes Horse, grocery items such as: pasta, rice, nuts, grains, oats, quinoa, oil, lentils, peanut butter, almond butter, salsa, sauces, ketchup, cereal, wheat flour etc. Look for donation baskets in the Great Room and by the Welcome Center.
Women of VCL and friends: Our Thursday Bible Study will begin on September 21. We’re excited to learn and grow together as well as share fellowship and prayer. Please plan to join us from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. And there is good news! We will be providing child care at the church for anyone needing it so please spread the word. The book for our Psalms study is Open and Unafraid: The Psalms as a Guide to Life by David O. Taylor. These are available for $12; just look for our sign up table in the Welcome Center. VCL Youth- New Day, New Format. Youth group will now be held on Sunday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:30-ish. We’re moving to a more casual format within a host’s home. There will be a short devotional presented by one of the youth leaders (rotating), as well as a fun activity and some snacks. We’re kicking it off on September 17th, at the George’s home. Two church work days: We will be doing some new fall plantings in our landscape around VCL. If you love to garden or just like getting dirty, we have a need for your help! Saturday September 16 and Saturday September 23 at 9 am. Sign up in the foyer—thank you!
All-Church Business Meeting - Sunday, September 10th following Worship. 2 items of business will be presented.
1) A ministry description for the new staff position.
2) A proposed by-law change: Changing the possible dates of our annual meeting, from November 1 thru December 31, to “the congregation requiring the annual meeting to be held between December 1 and January 31.”
This frees up the Christmas season and assures we’ll have final numbers before deciding on next year’s budget.

Ministry Opportunity: On Saturday, September 16, we will again have an opportunity to help those in need with furniture deliveries and pickups. We meet at the Love INC warehouse at 8am-noon to load the trucks. Those who are able to, please contact Ernie Brandt at coachb1925@aol.com or at 224-217-1966. The warehouse is located at 339 Lakewood Ave. in Waukegan.
