Women's Connections: Saturday Gatherings Sign up in the foyer today!
Ladies: Saturday September 9 (9am-11am) is coming soon! For the next nine months, at each of the Saturday Gatherings, we will be exploring, discovering and implementing COURAGEOUS LIVING, how we can live boldly for the Lord. On the 9th we will cast our vision of Courageous Living. We’ll especially look at bold giving by being the hands and feet of Jesus. Also, a special guest, Jana Patterson, missionary to The Slovak Republic, will share her story with us.
We have an opportunity to give boldly by donating in September to TED’s Clothes Horse. Pasta, rice, nuts, grains, oats, quinoa, oil, lentils, peanut butter, almond butter, salsa, sauces, ketchup, cereal, flour, etc. Look for donation baskets in the Great Room.
Calling all women of VCL!! Thursday Bible Study will begin on September 21. We’ll be digging into the book of Psalms; our guidebook is Open and Unafraid: The Psalms as a Guide to Life by David O. Taylor. We’re excited to learn and grow together as well as share fellowship and prayer. BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY September 17 Please come to kick off our fall activities at VCL. This is a perfect time to invite your friends and neighbors too! Salad lunch following the service. See you there!
Missionary of the week: Please pray for A Safe Place ministry in Zion, IL this week.
Youth Group: We will be taking a break until the week of September 17th in order for the leaders to reorganize and prepare for the upcoming year. The date youth group begins will be announced as we get closer.
Two church work days: We will be doing some new fall plantings in our landscape around VCL. If you love to garden or just like getting dirty, we have a need for your help! Saturday September 16 and Saturday September 23 at 9 am. Sign up in the foyer—thank you!
All-Church Business Meeting - Sunday, September 10th following Worship. 2 items of business will be presented.
1) A ministry description for the new staff position.
2) A proposed by-law change: Changing the possible dates of our annual meeting, from November 1 thru December 31, to “the congregation requiring the annual meeting to be held between December 1 and January 31.”
This frees up the Christmas season and assures we’ll have final numbers before deciding on next year’s budget.
