A Song with Heart

A Song for the Ages

This is the first Sunday of Advent. It’s a season of preparation for the celebration of Christ’s coming and it’s a time to anticipate His coming again in glory. This season we are looking at a short song that is recorded by Paul in Philippians 2. It’s a hymn that reminds us who this Christ is and how we should live in light of him. This Sunday, Pastor Jim will focus on verses 5 and 6, reflecting on the heart of Christ.  We pray that through song, prayer, lighting the advent candles and the Word, you will find the hope of Christ anew.

Ladies, you all are invited to our Women's Connections CHRISTMAS BRUNCH, Saturday, December 10th 9:00-11:00. Knowing Jesus at Christmas through HIS gifts of Love, Joy, Peace and Hope. RSVP for a catered brunch by December 4th. Sign-up at the "round table" by the VCL Information table.  Talk with Karen Kissinger for more information

Love INC: We are in need of more volunteers for the Love INC ministry in Lake County. Once a month a small group of VCL volunteers serve on the second Saturday morning each month with other churches to deliver and pick up beds, furniture and household supplies to residents who are in need. We have been involved in this ministry for 15 years with 13-15 other Lake County churches. Our optimum team would consist of 5-10 volunteers – currently we have 2-3. We deliver beds, Bibles, prayer and encouragement to our neighbors. Contact Carl Johnson to give it a try!

You can still join a growth group! While we just had our growth group launch (an easy opportunity to join a growth group), if you are still interested in joining a group, you can reach out to Pastor Casey any time of the year. Growth groups are a vital part of church life at VCL!

Thursday Morning Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. Please join us for a study of 1 & 2 Peter. The relevance of these books to today’s social and religious climate makes them a particularly interesting study. The guide book, 1-2 Peter and Jude by Jonathan K. Dodson, is available for $7.00. If you have any questions feel free to contact Carol Marshall, carolsings3@comcast.net.

Welcome Center: We hope you’ve noticed, we frequently have treats to go with our coffee at the welcome center on Sundays. You are invited to contribute at a time that works for you (and we have openings on our schedule.) Some ideas are: a purchased sheet cake (possibly celebrating a special birthday?) homemade cookies or bars, a bowl of cuties or apples or a salty snack. You may have another idea, I’d love to hear it! To schedule a Sunday and find out more info, please email karen.flatebo@sbcglobal.net.

Cookies! Looking forward to Christmas Cookies at the Welcome Center this December? We could use your help! If you are able to bring a batch, please sign up at the Welcome Center after the service today or text Karen F.
