This Sunday we will join in worshiping God through song, prayer, the Table and the Word. We are pleased to have Heidi Ramer sharing about her ministry. We’ll be starting a new series titled, “We Can Stand”. It’s a walk through the book of Daniel. This week, Pastor Jim Renke will lead us through chapter 1. We’ll discover some vital keys to maintaining an authentic witness even in places that are far from home.

New Sermon Series begins January 8: Sometimes the world feels like it’s hurling through space without rhyme or reason. Daniel reminds us that God is at work and the chaos we see in the nations is really an order of things that will end in the eternal Kingdom of God being established.
Daniel, as a man gives us a great example of how we can stand firm in the midst of the chaos, even when we are separated from the home where we belong. Through integrity, faithful practices, deep faith and a godly community of friends, Daniel presented a consistent, powerful witness of God in a foreign land.
Hour in the Word Kicks off on January 8th! Join Pastor Casey and our pastoral intern, Sam George, as they kick off our year in Hour in the Word (9am class in the Great room). This year our theme is “Living as Exiles: serving Christ in a non-Christian World,” and we begin with a six-week series covering the stories of Ruth, Jonah and Esther. These important books give us stories of God’s faithfulness in foreign lands and invite us to see ourselves as part of his wider story to bring hope to “every tribe, tongue, and nation.” Join us at 9am!
Dear Friends of VCL, We all want to thank you for the generosity and love you showed us in the Christmas gifts for staff this year. We find it a joy to serve God and His kingdom with you here in this church home. It’s with hope that we look forward to a new year of ministry wherein we will know God and strive to do His will together, for his glory.

Women’s Connections: You are invited to our January 14th Saturday Gathering on “Seasons in Relationships.” It will be an interactive morning with a panel of VCL ladies sharing about their own relationships. 9:00-11:00am. For more information, contact Karen Kissinger 847-223-5948.
You can still join a growth group! While we just had our growth group launch (an easy opportunity to join a growth group), if you are still interested in joining a group, you can reach out to Pastor Casey any time of the year. Growth groups are a vital part of church life at VCL!
Welcome Center: We hope you’ve noticed, we frequently have treats to go with our coffee at the welcome center on Sundays. You are invited to contribute at a time that works for you (and we have openings on our schedule.) Some ideas are: a purchased sheet cake (possibly celebrating a special birthday?) homemade cookies or bars, a bowl of cuties or apples or a salty snack.
