Kenny is a native of Connecticut and veteran of the United States Air Force. He graduated from Berklee College of Music (’08) with a Bachelor of Music and Reformed Theological Seminary (’15) with a Master of Divinity. Kenny first came to VCL in 2016 and has served as an elder since 2018. As Interim Pastor, his primary responsibilities include preaching, shepherding, and helping to lead the church through the process of calling a new Senior Pastor. Prior to moving to the area to pursue his PhD in Systematic Theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Kenny sold real estate, wrote books and articles, and served in various pastoral leadership roles at churches and ministries across Nashville, TN. His writing has been published in a wide range of publications, from Forbes and Business Insider to LifeWay’s Collegiate magazine. He is also the co-author of How to Be Present in an Absent World (Zondervan, 2020) and author of Launch Your Life (Thomas Nelson, 2013). Kenny lives in Vernon Hills with his wife, Suzanne, and their three children: Cesar (4), Ellie (2), and Sophie (7 months).
Pastor Casey was raised in Cedar Rapids, IA, where he came to faith as a teenager. Pursuing a call to ministry, he first studied through Moody Bible Institute’s online program while working full-time, later transferring to Trinity College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Pastor Casey’s passion for youth ministry began during this time, when he took on the role of Youth Ministries Director at Village Church. He graduated from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with his Mdiv in Spring 2019 and transitioned into the Associate Pastor role. He met and married his wife, Danielle, in Cedar Rapids, and when they moved out to Deerfield she began pursuing her career as a Respiratory Therapist. Both Pastor Casey and Danielle enjoy hiking, canoeing, and exploring nature. In Pastor Casey’s free time, you’ll find him at the painting easel or with his hands in the dirt. Jane Niederbrach was born and raised in Wichita, KS. She dedicated her life to Christ when she was 17 years old. She holds a Master of Music degree from Baylor University. Jane began her music career as a professional singer in opera and musical theater based out of New York City, and met her husband Dave performing together. They moved to the Chicago area in 1992, and Jane served as Worship Director for 14 years at Covenant Presbyterian Church of Chicago (PCA), until they moved to Libertyville in 2007. Jane also taught for 8 years at Christian Heritage Academy in Northfield, directing students K-12 in choirs, musical theater, and worship. On retiring from CHA, Jane began a music business bringing a variety of programs to area senior residences. Jane and Dave have a daughter Laurie, who is currently pursuing a Doctor of Optometry degree in Memphis, TN. They came as a family to VCL in 2012. Dave works in the computer field at Pactiv-Evergreen Corp. in Lake Forest. He joins Jane for performances at area senior residences, and Laurie is also in the family “music business” in her spare time, as an accomplished flutist and singer.
Karen has attended VCL since 1998. She has worked as the office manager since July 2015. Prior to that she served as the back-up for the office manager for several years. She has also been involved in other volunteer activities of the church.
