Guide for Home Worship: 4/10/22
Walk in Our New Victory
This Sunday, we celebrate the One who came as Prince of Peace and was introduced to the world as a humble servant of God. We will sing, pray and reflect on John 12 together. We pray for this opening of Holy Week in anticipation of next weeks’ events, including Good Friday and Easter! We hope you’ll join us in person on Sunday at 10:30am. If that’s not possible, we’d love to serve you online.
First Hour Easter Schedule: We will not have any First Hour classes for all ages at 9:00 a.m. on Palm Sunday, April 10 and Easter Sunday, April 17
New Sermon Series: This Spring, we will walk through the book of John. In it we’ll see that Jesus came to begin his new creation in us. As we’re encouraged to believe in him, we will discover the uniqueness and power of new life in him. Join us on Sunday mornings, for the faith to “Believe and Discover.”
Study of the Pentateuch – Join Pastor Casey in the Great room at 9am for a time of intentional study of the first five books of the Bible. This will be a trial run of a new kind of class at VCL, where we gather first to discuss in small groups and end our time with a whole-group discussion. If you’ve ever wanted to take your Bible study to a new level, this is a great opportunity for you to go deeper than ever before in God’s Word. We’re using T. Desmond Alexander’s book From Paradise to Promise Land as our guide, and we’ll try to read much of the Pentateuch during our time together.
Palm Sunday Brunch – April 10th at 8:30 am: Please join us in fellowship for a Palm Sunday Brunch. Bring a breakfast item to share with everyone, all shared items will be laid out “potluck style” in the Great Room. Hospitality team kindly asks that you sign up with what you will be bringing so we can make sure to cover all the rest!
Memorial Service: There will be a Memorial Service for David Crockett here on Saturday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. The service will also be live streamed. If you would like the link for the live stream please contact the church office.
VCL Women’s Connections – The Saturday Gathering – Mark your calendars for Saturday April 9th. We are meeting from 8:45 – 10:30am, which is earlier than usual. Carol Marshall will be teaching on the application of Spiritual Gifts and Ministries. This exciting topic is essential to a believer’s life and to building a healthy church body. Our Saturday Gatherings have proven to be a powerful tool for spiritual growth and connecting women at VCL. We encourage you to join us! Sign up in the foyer or email Faith Beans for more information.
VCL Women’s Connections: Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study—All women of VCL are invited to attend the new session. Our study will be on women of the Bible. It will be a deep dive into how God has been at work for His kingdom purposes through women in the pages of scripture and will bring the principles of faith and action into our daily lives. The book we’ll use is Believers: Lessons from Women of Powerful Faith by Gien Karssen.
Please consider trying out this opportunity to dig into the word of God with a very enthusiastic group of women. All are welcome! If you have questions contact Carol Marshall, 847-274-9900 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Welcome Center: We hope you’ve noticed, we frequently have treats to go with our coffee at the welcome center on Sundays. You are invited to contribute at a time that works for you (and we have openings on our schedule.) Some ideas are: a purchased sheet cake (possibly celebrating a special birthday?) homemade cookies or bars, a bowl of cuties or apples or a salty snack. You may have another idea, I’d love to hear it! To schedule a Sunday and find out more info, please email email@example.com.
Prayer… If you would like people from our church to pray for you at any time, please send your request directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. Once approved by one of our pastors, your request will go straight out to our prayer list.
If you’re not receiving our emails – please contact the church office at email@example.com to be added to our email list. We would be happy for you to receive the information that is forwarded each week. Also any who would like to be added to the “prayer request list” may also contact the church office.
