Guide for Home Worship: 10/10/21
Celebrating a Fruitful Gospel
This morning, we will celebrate the God who has called us by his grace to be his people. We will sing, pray and listen to God’s Word together, giving thanks for the fruitfulness of the gospel in our midst. The message, from the new pastor Jim Renke, is from Colossians 1:3-8. It will encourage us to give thanks for what God has done in us and long for more!
New Series in Hour in the Word—Holy Sexuality – Is there such a thing as “biblical sexuality”? What does the Bible say about this mysterious, powerful, and foundational aspect of human life? How can we capture God’s vision for sexual wholeness and holiness in a world like ours? Join Pastor Casey and Bryan Just as they tackle these questions and more in our new series during Hour in the Word, entitled Holy Sexuality: Living As Creatures in God’s World. The class meets at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday. This is a great opportunity for you to bring your youth to participate in the discussion.
The Abundant Life class, to which all are welcome, will be looking at hard sayings and difficult passages in the Bible. We look at explanations offered by Biblical scholars (who often differ in their interpretation) and try to understand what the Bible is actually saying. This class begins this Sunday, October 10.
Bi-Weekly Virtual Prayer Gathering: This Tuesday night (10/12) at 7:30 PM, we’ll be gathering on Zoom for our bi-weekly prayer meeting. If you have a prayer request or an update, please send it to email@example.com.

Hour in the Word Podcast – If you can’t make it to Hour in the Word on Sunday mornings, you can now listen to an adapted recording of our time together in the new Hour in the Word Podcast. I hope you’ll take some time this week to listen in as Bryan Just and I kick off our series entitled Holy Sexuality: Living as Creatures in God’s World. You can listen and subscribe on Podbean, Spotify, or iHeartRadio as well as at this link: https://hourinthewordvcl.podbean.com. You’ll be able to listen to the discussion on the way to work, while you work out, or anywhere you’ve got headphones. Our hope is that we can use this online space to share the love, light, and life of Jesus with more people. This will replace YouTube as the primary way we distribute the Hour in the Word Lessons.
Blood Drive – VCL is hosting a Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, October 12. The blood supply is critically short, and the need is constant. If you are willing to donate, please let Ed Manzo email@example.com know what times would work for you to donate. Appointments are every quarter hour from 1:00 to 6:00 pm. Collections will occur in the Great Room. We are going to reach out to the local community and are aiming for 100 collections.
Mark your calendar—VCL Annual Meeting, Sunday, December 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Prayer… If you would like people from our church to pray for you at any time, please send your request directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. Once approved by one of our pastors, your request will go straight out to our prayer list.
If you’re not receiving our emails – please contact the church office at email@example.com to be added to our email list. We would be happy for you to receive the information that is forwarded each week. Also any who would like to be added to the “prayer request list” may also contact the church office.
