Guide for Home Worship: 1/2/22

Listen, Do, Learn

This Sunday we will begin our new series through Exodus and Numbers, “Firm Footing.”  This series of messages will help us walk toward a future with Him in the land of promise. We can avoid some of the dangers if we learn to walk securely in him.  This Sunday, we’ll be looking at God’s manna test in Exodus 16.  The sermon title is Listen, Do, Learn.”  We hope you can make it in person at 10:30am!  If not, we are planning an online service on YouTube.  Here’s the link!

General Announcements

Hour in the Word Series Continues—and you can listen online! Join Pastor Casey and Bryan Just as they continue their series called Holy sexuality: Living as Creatures in God’s World in the Great Room at 9amThis engaging class focuses in on how God desires us to live in light of his design for every part of our lives, especially sexuality. This is a great class if you want to learn more about the Bible’s vision for sex, gender, procreation, and our bodies in contrast to current cultural confusion. And, if you miss Sunday mornings, you can tune in at the Hour in the Word Podcast (https://hourinthewordvcl.podbean.com), which you can find on Spotify, Google Podcasts, and iHeartRadio.

The Abundant Life class, to which all are welcome, will be looking at hard sayings and difficult passages in the Bible. We look at explanations offered by Biblical scholars (who often differ in their interpretation) and try to understand what the Bible is actually saying.

THANK YOU, to all who blessed your church staff by giving toward our Christmas gifts.  It is a joy to serve with you at Village Church of Lincolnshire. And we’re grateful for your love, support and partnership in the gospel here.  With you, we pray God will lead us toward much Spirit-filled fruit in the new year. ~ Pastor Jim.

VCL Women’s Connections:  Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study—All are welcome to join us for the Bible Study starting up again on Thursday January 13, 2022, 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. We’ll be finishing up the book of Galatians during January; I encourage anyone to come even if you weren’t able to be with us in the fall. In addition to examining God’s word we enjoy fellowship, prayer for each other and a monthly concert of prayer led by Jan Carlson. The Spirit is most certainly at work!

In February we’ll begin a study on Women of the Bible with a special emphasis on women leaders. This promises to be an especially engaging study as we’ll take a deeper dive into what scripture has to teach us about our place in God’s kingdom work. I’m excited!
