A native of South Dakota, Pastor Lee graduated from Trinity College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Before coming to Village Church in 1998, he served for five years as an Assistant Pastor in Deerfield, IL, and 14 years as Senior Pastor in Beaver Falls, PA. Pastor Lee is also a writer, having many articles published in Leadership Journal, PreachingToday.com, CTPastors.com, and Mature Living magazine. He is the author of three books: The Pastor’s Service Manual, Pastoral Graces: Reflections on the Care of Souls (Moody Publishers), and Feels Like Home: How Rediscovering the Church as Family Changes Everything (Moody Publishers, Spring 2019). Pastor Lee is an adjunct professor at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, teaching pastoral counseling. He and his wife Susan have been married over 45 years and have one grown son, Anders. Amit Bhatia (MDiv, PhD, Intercultural Studies) was born and raised in Bombay, India, in a Hindu family. He came to faith in Christ in 1992 after finishing college in the US. He served in the Chicago area for five years in the corporate world before being called into ministry, where he served as associate pastor in several different local congregations while attending seminary. Amit met and married his wife, Kathy, at VCL, and shares with her a passion for Indian food and world evangelization. He consistently engages people from other faiths with the gospel of Jesus Christ, while also encouraging our congregation towards new ways of communicating Christ’s peace, mercy and forgiveness to their own families and communities.
Casey was raised in Cedar Rapids, IA, where he came to faith as a teenager. Pursuing a call to ministry, he first studied through Moody Bible Institute’s online program while working full-time, later transferring to Trinity College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He and his wife, Danielle, love to hike and travel, and he enjoys writing, drawing, photography, and fly-fishing.
Melissa Grew up in a large family in Lancaster, MA. She studied English while pursuing her writing dream at Framingham State University, but sensed a call to ministry and pursued graduate work at Gordon-Conwell with a passion for the inner-city and inter-cultural studies. She came to Illinois after meeting her future husband online and joined him studying at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. She enjoys reading, writing, painting, playing games and spending time with friends.
Jacob O’Marrah was born in Downers Grove, IL in July of 1995 and raised in Morris, IL. He started at the college side of Trinity International University in August 2013 and began his graduate program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in August 2015. At the end of this academic year he will walk with a BA in Pre-Seminary, and by May 2020, will complete a Master of Divinity and a MA in Systematic Theology. Jacob was married to his hometown sweetheart Carol Marie O’Marrah in January of 2017, who alongside him, also works in the nonprofit field, focusing specifically on homelessness prevention. Jacob has a passion for music. He writes in a contemporary style through piano and acoustic guitar, plays and performs original music as lead singer in a band, and also formally composes/arranges music. For fun, Jake enjoys writing, theater, eating sushi, and helping to design and produce board games.
Karen has attended VCL since 1998. She has worked as the office manager since July 2015. Prior to that she served as the back-up for the office manager for several years. She has also been involved in other volunteer activities of the church.
