Guide for Home Worship: 7/5/20
Grace Under Fire, Part 1
For the next 3 weeks, we’ll be looking at the life, message, and death of Stephen—the Church’s first martyr. Today, we’ll talk about his character and courage, as well as what it looks like to be bold in our testimony to Christ.
No Sunday School on July 5: Both to celebrate the 4th of July weekend and to focus on our regathering, we will not be having our virtual Sunday school this Sunday, July 5th. Please join us as we pick up in Amos 7 on July 12th at 9 am. If you’d like a biblical deep dive into some of the issues we’ve been discussing (primarily the issue of justice), you can read the expanded study guides on VCL’s Sunday School page.
Bi-Weekly Virtual Prayer Gathering: Pastor Kenny apologizes for the mixup with prayer last week. This Tuesday night (7/7) at 7:30 PM, we’ll be gathering on Zoom for our bi-weekly prayer meeting. Come join us for a meaningful time of prayer—all from the comfort of your own living room. Zoom details to follow via email. If you have a prayer request or an update, please send it to email@example.com.
We need to CHAT. Time is almost up to participate in the church-wide survey being conducted by our transition team. So far, we’ve had 56 people complete the survey—roughly a third of our normal attendance prior to COVID-19. The survey will close on 7/9. If you’d like your voice to be heard, please visit http://www.
Semi-Annual Congregational Meeting July 19th—Outside: At 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19th we will be having our semi-annual meeting in the parking lot (socially distant). Members, if at all possible, are expected to attend. If we have to postpone due to inclement weather, we will have the meeting on July 26th. Please bring your own lawn chair and cloth or paper mask. We ask that everyone wear a mask on the way to/from their seat. You can remove your mask while seated.
Not-So Daily Office: Pastors Kenny and Casey are on Facebook Live at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. During this time they will read a scripture passage and have a time of prayer. Copies of these times of worship will then be posted on our website: evcl.org/daily-office
Offering: During this time, it’s more important than ever that we continue to embody our trust in the Lord’s provision through faithful, sacrificial giving. Please visit http://evcl.org/give/ and make your offering as an intentional act of faith. Although online giving is preferred during this time, you may also write and mail your checks to Village Church of Lincolnshire, 201 Riverwoods Rd, Lake Forest, IL 60045
