Guide for Home Worship: 6/27/21
A Quiet Faithfulness
Today we worship a God who calls each of us, not to greatness, but to a quiet faithfulness in our everyday lives. In this calling we’ll see a freedom and a joy that the world lacks in its constant pursuit of celebrity and success. Join us in worship through song and sermon, with Pastor Casey preaching on Acts 23:12-24 about a nameless nephew who is used by God simply by being faithful to his uncle
Hour in the Word – Jim Stamoolis and Pastor Casey will be leading a series entitled The Basics of Faith in Christ: What Christians believe. If you’ve ever wondered what heaven is like, or why Christians say Jesus is the only way to God, this is the series for you. And, even if you’ve been a believer for a long time, you may be surprised to discover what the Bible says about God, the world, and Christian’s eternal destiny. Join us every Sunday morning 9-10 a.m. in the Great Room. Due to technical issues, we will be recording the lesson and then posting it to YouTube the next week instead of livestreaming.
No Hour in the Word on July 4th – There will be no first-hour activities for any age on July 4th. Service will still begin at 10:30am. Please use this time to recharge and come ready to worship.
Gideons Presentation — We welcome Andy Kaufman who this Sunday will be giving us an update on the work of the Gideons. Because of the pandemic, Gideons have had little opportunity to distribute Bibles at the many venues where they’d normally do so. This has given them the chance to concentrate more on personal evangelism. Andy will be sharing with us some opportunities the Gideons have had to witness, as well as a new initiative they have in the works. We will receive an offering at the end of our service. If you were not prepared to give and wish to support the work of the Gideons checks can be made to “Gideons International” and sent to P. O. Box 845, Mundelein, IL 60060.
Bi-Weekly Virtual Prayer Gathering – We are rescheduling our Zoom prayer meeting that was to be held on June 29 to Tuesday, July 6. If you have a prayer request or an update, please send it to email@example.com
VCL Reopening Guide – Information regarding the reopening of our church may be found on our blog posting. Click here to read the guide.
Prayer… If you would like people from our church to pray for you at any time, please send your request directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. Once approved by one of our pastors, your request will go straight out to our prayer list.
Offering Envelopes: We would encourage you to use last year’s offering envelopes (date not important) if you still have them. If you do not and would like envelopes with your envelop number please contact the church office with the number of envelopes you would need (example: one time a month, every other week, etc.). The Finance Committee appreciates when you use your numbered envelopes as this makes their job more efficient.
If you’re not receiving our emails – please contact the church office at email@example.com to be added to our email list. We would be happy for you to receive the information that is forwarded each week. Also any who would like to be added to the “prayer request list” may also contact the church office.
Would you like to use the Great Room? The Great Room is now available for groups of 25 or less to use throughout the week. To keep things safe and sanitary, you’ll need to reserve a time and follow a set of guidelines we’ve developed. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Weekly Office: Pastors Kenny and Casey are on Facebook Live at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. During this time they will read a scripture passage and have a time of prayer. Copies of these times of worship will then be posted on our website: evcl.org/daily-office

During this time, it’s more important than ever that we continue to embody our trust in the Lord’s provision through faithful, sacrificial giving. Please visit http://evcl.org/give/ and make your offering as an intentional act of faith.
