Guide for Home Worship: 5/9/21
We Are Children of Our Heavenly Father
This Sunday, we’ll be singing the praises of our great and glorious Father in Heaven. Pastor Kenny will preach a sermon from Ephesians 6:4 titled, “Raising Kids in the Discipline and Instruction of the Lord.
Hour in the Word This Sunday: Join Pastor Casey at 9:30am for a series on evangelism and sharing Christ in how we think, speak, and act in the world. For this lesson, we see how the Bible’s vision of Christlike service can be attractive in a hurting world. You can follow along on the study guide here: http://evcl.org/the-
Open House for Sarah Esau – Jim and Ann Baker and Scott and Kim Cordes invite you to an open house for Sarah Esau (VCL Missionary in France) on Saturday May 15, between 2 pm and 5 pm at the Cordes house in Buffalo Grove. Please stop by to greet Sarah and learn more about her ministry! Refreshments will be provided (please email email@example.com with the number of people planning to attend).
Semi-Annual Congregational Meeting: Please save the date – on May 16 at 6 PM, we’ll be gathering for our semi-annual meeting. The meeting will take place in the Sanctuary and will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel. We’ll be voting on two new members for the nominating committee: Chrissi Wall and Karen Kasch. Pastor Kenny will also be presenting a proposal for a new staff position, which the congregation will need to vote on. We will also vote on minor revisions to the by-laws. The proposal for the new position and by-laws has been emailed to the congregation by for your review and feedback.
Want to Join Our Church? We will be holding a new members’ class on June 6th and 13th from 9 AM to 10 AM (attendance is required on both Sundays, but we can accommodate make-ups). If you’re interested in becoming a member of VCL, please grab a hold of Pastor Kenny after the service or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Spare Rooms open for families with Small Children – As we’ve seen more and more VCL families (and some new!) return to in-person worship, we wanted to provide some dedicated space for parents of small children during the service. From now until the nursery and 2s-3s ministries are restarted, the nursery, 2s-3s room, rooms 103 and 104 (down the hall toward the Great Room) will be open for parents of small children to have as a separate space during the service. These rooms will be limited to one-family per Sunday, and there will be a clipboard for parents to signal that they used the space so it can be cleaned. Rooms will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Prayer… If you would like for people from our church to pray for you at any time, please send your request directly to email@example.com. Once approved by one of our pastors, your request will go straight out to our prayer list.
Offering Envelopes: We would encourage you to use last year’s offering envelopes (date not important) if you still have them. If you do not and would like envelopes with your envelop number please contact the church office with the number of envelopes you would need (example: one time a month, every other week, etc.). The Finance Committee appreciates when you use your numbered envelopes as this makes their job more efficient.
If you’re not receiving our emails – please contact the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to our email list. We would be happy for you to receive the information that is forwarded each week. Also any who would like to be added to the “prayer request list” may also contact the church office.
Would you like to use the Great Room? The Great Room is now available for groups of 25 or less to use throughout the week. To keep things safe and sanitary, you’ll need to reserve a time and follow a set of guidelines we’ve developed. For more information, please email email@example.com.
Weekly Office: Pastors Kenny and Casey are on Facebook Live at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. During this time they will read a scripture passage and have a time of prayer. Copies of these times of worship will then be posted on our website: evcl.org/daily-office
